Living and working together as a group in this natural environment is a key part of this camp. Our challenge is to teach the children about the different ecosystems and biodiversity, as well as our responsibility of looking after the planet. Children are the future: they are the ones who will be responsible for preserving our precious natural resources. 10-DAY PROGRAM Day
1 Travel from Santiago to Puerto Montt. Day 2 Breakfast. Travel to Laguna Espejo for kayaking lessons. Picnic at the Nido de Aguila waterfall. Afternoon kayaking lessons. Dinner and overnight stay at the hostel. Day 3 Hike through an ancient forest to Laguna Troncoso and continue with kayaking lessons. Picnic by the lagoon. Dinner and overnight stay at the hostel. Day 4 Travel to Lago Espolón by motorboat for a cruise on the lake, followed by a horseback ride to the put-in for the Río Espolón Alto (class I). Camp on the beach by the river. Day 5 Run the Río Espolón Alto as far as the lake, then camp by the lake. Day
6 Hike in the morning, and afternoon boat trip back to Futaleufú. Day 7 Drive to the Río Futaleufú and run the Macal section (class I and II) as far as Puerto Ramírez. Camp on the beach. Day 8 Drive to the Río Yelcho and run the river down to Valle del Ventisquero. Camp on the beach with magnificent views of the glacier and white sands. Day
9 Continue traveling down the Río Yelcho to the delta, and
take out at the ocean. Enjoy beautiful countryside with large flocks of
black-throated swans. |
